Dear Friends in Christ,
This month I want to call your attention to a few ministry things at PMLC -- to let you know some opportunities for service but also to report on how God has been blessing us!

Wanted: Adults who like/love kids and who care about their spiritual growth!
We could use several more adults -- parents or even grandparents -- to help teach Sunday
school.  The curriculum is easy to follow but does take a little preparation.  Please prayerfully consider sharing your knowledge and faith in Christ with the children God has placed in our care here at PMLC.  The side benefit is that you will probably learn more than the kids -- and that's ok, too!
The signup sheet for teaching is on the table in the fellowship hall.  Please see Pastor Lori or Michelle Crawford if you have questions. Thanks!

Pregnancy Resource Services
A week ago I visited the Pregnancy Resource Services office in Bremerton.  It was a privilege to deliver a dozen beautiful baby caps that the women in our charity knitting group have lovingly made.  I also came home with a list of items they collect on an ongoing basis which I will include in this newsletter.
There are a number of ways to support this gracious and loving ministry of caring for moms who find themselves pregnant and alone.
*You can find items on the list and put in the special container at church.
*You can attend the Pregnancy Resource Services Fall Fundraiser and Dessert Social
Thursday, October 9th at 6:30 p.m. – Gateway Fellowship, Poulsbo
Featuring Michele Pillar, 3-time Grammy-nominated Christian singer, songwriter and actress, who has a very moving story about an unplanned pregnancy. This will be inspiring!

Men's Retreat
The men who attended the Fall Retreat at Stonewater Ranch near Leavenworth came home well-fed both physically and spiritually!  I was told there was no shortage of man food.  In fact, the only vegetable they saw all weekend was a salad one night.  The Bible study was led by the Rev. Dr. Gemenchis Buba, Assistant to the Bishop of the North American Lutheran Church.  Ron reported that Gemenchis is not only a great
preacher of God's Word but also a fabulous Bible teacher!  He presented a study on the life of Abraham as a model of faith for the men.  It was a time of spiritual growth as they were taught the Scriptures and shared in fellowship with other faithful Lutheran men eager to grow in Christ. There was a free afternoon when several of our men did a tour of a nearby golf course -- with clubs!!  They had a great time!!  After a weekend like this Ron feels so grateful to be a pastor in the NALC where God's Word is central to all that we do!

Children of the Nations
Please pray for the staff, children and families who live in the COTN mission compound in Sierra Leone.  The Ebola disease has spread to within just a few miles.  You can get up to date information and prayer requests by signing up at http://www.cotni.org - or to go directly to the signup page and just click here to be a prayer partner.
Port Madison Lutheran was able to send a $1000 gift to COTN a couple weeks ago to help purchase supplies to prevent the spread of Ebola among medical workers and others at the mission compound.  If you wish to contribute more, I know it will be put to good use!

Thanks for being involved in Christ's mission through Port Madison Lutheran Church!  He has blessed us to be a blessing to others!!

In Christ,
Pastor Lori
